I don’t know why, but I have never been so happy for Spring!
I always considered myself a winter-baby with my Pi-day bday but this Spring I am leaping into new habits and positivity.
It was a harddddd end of 2024 for me. I was laid off from my full-time work-from-home job that gave me the flexibility to do everything I needed to from home and I’m still in the interviewing/what am I doing phase.
I have to keep my reeling mind focused on the positive or I’d be crying on the floor of my bathroom most days. The ways that I do this is filling the time that I do have with something productive- which sometimes is rest.
- I try to read at least 1 chapter of a book each day which has been reported to reduce stress by up to 68%. If you’re looking for a productive or inspiring read, check out some of my recommendations!
- I joined a text group that my friend started that is primarily to talk about our health plans for ourselves, large and small, where we actually admit out goals to each other and then daily or multiple times weekly check in to join together in both the accomplishments and the difficulties. I will admit I am the biggest slacker in the group but it does help me to remember to put time aside for the treadmill or SOME kind of exercise during the week. Even if I’m not a superstar, I’m trying.
- Product swaps help me to live better without trying so hard. One of my New Years Resolutions was to try out different types of meal plans for my family after discovering that we had slipped into take-out menu mentions a few times a week. Being a working mom means that I have quite a few jobs to juggle and finding time to plan, purchase and to cook meals 3 times a day for everyone is such a chore. Having a steady weekly meal delivery plan has helped me budget groceries, not waste food that goes bad in my fridge and is definitely reducing my weekly stress.
- Taking more showers. If you live in a country or state where the water bill is manageable, take advantage of this simple stress reliever. My favorite thing after either working or worrying is to turn the shower on, pull the drain stopper and making it a bath-shower LOL the feeling of the water coming down on me really resets my perspective.
- Enjoy some time with (positive) friends, family members, pets and yourself-let yourself finally watch that show you’ve been hearing so much about.
- Be grateful. You hear it all the time that you should get a journal but you really could just close your eyes and thank the universe for everything you’ve got. It doesn’t need to be a homework assignment, unless that’s what gets your positive juices flowing, it could be a short thank you at any time of the day.

Springtime Challenge:
This Spring let’s challenge ourselves to be happiest with the self we have instead of pushing to be the person we think we should be at this stage of our lives. This will be a challenge for me folks! I’ve always lived in my head and pressed myself, but honestly I feel like I’ve always been running in place. This Spring I’m ready to launch myself into the life I want, which starts with the passive changes like weekly meal plans and thanking the universe for the family, friends and even the part-time work I do have because it could certainly be a lot harder.
